The Ann Arbor Police Department has introduced a 2025 Chevy Blazer EV as part of its efforts to use more sustainable vehicles. The city’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations supported this initiative to reduce emissions and update the municipal fleet.
The Chevy Blazer EV is the first electric vehicle in Michigan to receive a ‘patrol capable’ designation from the Michigan State Police. This means it meets the standards required for police work. The vehicle is scheduled for deployment in September 2025. Officers have tested the vehicle and provided feedback on its performance.
Ann Arbor has added electric vehicles to its police fleet over the past several years. The department already uses Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford Lightning vehicles.
