Charlotte Detectives Probe Early Morning Double Homicide on Atando Ave, Community Assistance Sought

Charlotte, N.C. has been grappling with a double homicide investigation since an incident on Sunday. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit detectives are delving into the events that occurred in the 120 block of Atando Ave., in the North Tryon Division, as reported by the CMPD’s official newsroom.

The authorities first responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call, and upon reaching the scene at approximately 4:47 a.m., they discovered one individual with gunshot injuries. This victim, later identified as D’andre Weaver, 29, was rushed to a local hospital but did not survive. A second critically injured person, now identified as Glenntavis McCorey, 44, was found nearby in a crashed car, having also suffered gunshot wounds, and has since been pronounced deceased, in a statement obtained by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.

Both scenes were combed for evidence by Crime Scene Search and the investigation had the support of CMPD’s Operations Command, Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC. Detective Davis is heading the investigation and the CMPD’s public affairs office reaffirms that the probe into the killings continues to be active and ongoing.
