ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — For the first time since Hurricane Milton ripped open its roof more than a year ago, Tropicana Field is officially weather-tight again — a milestone that clears the way for a massive push on long-delayed interior repairs.
City officials said the last of the roof’s heat-sealing and cable work wrapped up this week, capping a rebuild of the dome’s 10-acre membrane. The project is finishing slightly ahead of schedule, thanks in part to what the city called an unusually calm storm season.
“We are so fortunate,” said Beth Herendeen with the city of St. Petersburg. “We had about a 30-day contingency with the weather window built in there, and we are very happy that we did not have to use it.”…
