Suspect charged with assault, kidnapping after brief standoff at North Knoxville home

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Police arrested a suspect on charges including especially aggravated kidnapping Wednesday after a brief standoff at a North Knoxville home.

Officers were called to the 2800 block of North Broadway around 4 p.m. where a woman reported she was assaulted and held against her will by her boyfriend at his residence on Glenview Drive. Police said she was able to escape the home and left the immediate area.

Crisis negotiators and special operations squad personnel responded to a home in the 2600 block of Glenview Drive where the suspect had barricaded himself inside. He later surrendered voluntarily and was taken into custody without further incident.

Christopher Reed, 38 was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault and theft. He had an outstanding warrant out of Knox County for failure to appear on a previous domestic assault charge…
