On November 26, 2025, FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker announced the arrest of Dominick Sacchetti, a 21-year-old employee. Sacchetti is accused of starting a fire at the ShopRite Supermarket at 100 Greaves Lane, Staten Island. The fire occurred on Thanksgiving Eve, when the store was busy with holiday shoppers. The fire began in an aisle at about 3:44 p.m. and caused more than $100,000 in damage. No injuries were reported among shoppers or firefighters.
Fire Marshals responded and began an investigation. They reviewed surveillance footage, which reportedly showed Sacchetti starting the fire on a shelf with paper goods.
