Wildwood woman allegedly uses bogus bills to pay for iPhone being sold on Facebook

A Wildwood woman was arrested on a warrant Monday for using counterfiet bills to pay for an iPhone 7 being sold on Facebook Marketplace.

On Sept. 9, a deputy responded to 6381 SE 142nd Lane, Summerfield, for a past fraud involving 23-year-old Dakota Brooke Williams, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The female victim advised that she sold Williams an iPhone 7 for $100 the night before. But when she looked at the two $50 bills given as payment the next morning, she noticed it was counterfeit money, the report said.

She explained that she met up with a man on Facebook to sell him the phone. Once his vehicle arrived, she could see another person, believed to be Williams, get out on the opposite side of the man. Williams stated she was there to buy the phone, so they made the exchange and went their separate ways, the report said…
