Walmart stabbing victim’s body cremated before autopsy: CCPD

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The body of the 18-year-old man killed in a Walmart stabbing on Oct. 23 was reportedly cremated before an autopsy could be conducted, a Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) spokesperson told WSAV.

J.T. Schroeder was stabbed during an altercation outside of the Whitemarsh Walmart on Highway 80.

A hold was reportedly placed on Schroeder’s body for an autopsy to be conducted, but it was instead released and cremated first.

“A hold was placed on J.T. Schroeder’s body by both the Chatham County Coroner’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation,” a CCPD spokesperson said. “These holds were in effect so that an autopsy could be conducted on Mr. Schroeder after his organ donation procedure took place. However, Mr. Schroeder’s body was released by Memorial Hospital to a funeral home and was cremated.”…
