TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man convicted of assault in Lucas County who was serving time in an Ohio prison has died while in custody, authorities confirmed to 13 Action News. Now two jail employees are on administrative leave amid an investigation into his death.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction confirmed that Laselle Allen, 38, died while being held at the Lebanon Correctional Institution.
Judge Joseph McNamara sentenced Allen to 1.5 years in 2024 for his convictions on charges of aggravated assault and attempted discharge of a firearm at or near habitation/school, court records say. Police said he shot at someone on Earl Street in March of 2024. They did not say anyone was injured…
