WALLER COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – A Navasota woman has been sentenced to a decade in prison after admitting she stole thousands of dollars from a local emergency services district while working as a trusted bookkeeper.
Miki Suzanne Ellis, 52, pled guilty Monday in Waller County to theft between $30,000 and $150,000 by a public servant and tampering with physical evidence. Judge Gary W. Chaney sentenced Ellis to 10 years in prison on each charge.
According to prosecutors, Ellis had worked for years as a bookkeeper for Waller-Harris Emergency Services District 200 and had access to the district’s bank accounts, credit cards, and financial records. Investigators said she used that access to divert taxpayer money for her own personal use…
