The email arrived just before Thanksgiving.
“I’m the youngest son of Catherine Connelly, who was the daughter of William Ehr,” it began. “As you know, my grandfather worked with the cats at the zoo. I am the sibling that wound up with custody of these pictures from the Milwaukee County Zoo that currently sit in my closet.”
The email was from Jon Connelly, a Milwaukee native that has lived in Florida since he was about 10 years old.
He figured I’d know about his grandfather, presumably, because of this post of photos from Washington Park Zoo, which included a photo of Bill Ehr and his more famous feline friend, Simba the Lion who lived for a time in the Central Library building Downtown…
