The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Parmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Hall, Childress, Bailey, Lamb, and Hale Counties. This alert will take effect at 9 PM CST tonight and last until 12 PM CST Thursday, December 4. The concern is focused on 1″ of snow and sleet accumulations developing in the advisory area, with locally higher amounts possible.
TONIGHT:
Wintry precipitation is possible tonight, especially for counties north of Lubbock. We can expect to see these light showers begin near 9 PM CST/8 PM MDT around Curry and Parmer Counties. These light showers will progress east throughout the night, with folks having the potential to see rain, sleet, and snow. An inch is the largest amount of snow we expect to accumulate within Parmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Hall, Bailey, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cottle, Curry, and Roosevelt Counties. However, a very narrow swath could set up between Roosevelt and Swisher Counties and result in snow accumulations slightly more than 1″. The rest of the area south of these counties may still have the potential to see a light dusting of snow. Overall, the form of the precipitation largely depends on the air temperature.
