SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities in South Beloit are informing residents that a mass text message, sent Wednesday and claiming residents lives were at risk, is false.
According to the city, authorities became aware of a fraudulent text, claiming delays with South Beloit’s Fire Department’s emergency response times were putting residents’ lives at risk.
“At no time were South Beloit residents in danger, and no such concerns regarding the Fire Department’s emergency response capabilities have been reported, documented, or presented to City officials. The claims made in the anonymous text message are baseless, misleading, and appear designed to cause unnecessary alarm and fear in the community,” a city spokesperson said in a statement…
