BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Riverside Academy (PS 208) is closed today after a water pump’s mechanical malfunction at the school caused “a significant amount” of smoke to be released from the school’s boiler system.
According to Buffalo Public Schools, the district will be closing the school out of an abundance of caution as smoke odor remains in parts of the building. The decision was made to ensure the health and well-being of students and staff, while air cleaning measures are conducted. The school will re-open on Friday.
Students have been instructed to stay home, while staff has been instructed to report to West Hertel Academy (PS 94)…
