Tentative agreement would bring more pay for GRPS teachers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Public Schools has reached a tentative agreement with the teachers’ union that, if approved, would bring wage increases for two academic years.

The GRPS Board of Education and the Grand Rapids Education Association’s bargaining unit must both ratify the tentative agreement before it is put into place.

The two-year contract would bring increases to teachers’ starting wage, including wage increases with each year of employment. Teachers would get their wage increase retroactively for the start of this school year, once the deal is approved.

Individual GRPS employees could get $2,000 to more than $10,000 in pay depending on their years of service and education level, the district said.
