ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Wes Moore announced a significant expansion of Maryland’s efforts to strengthen its teacher workforce and simultaneously hire more young men and boys on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The announcement comes as new data shows statewide teacher vacancies have been dramatically reduced by nearly 50 percent over the past year—dropping from 1,619 vacancies in the 2024-25 school year to 886 in the 2025-26 school year.
