BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is warning the public of a scam involving families of individuals recently released from jail.
According to BCSO, the families are receiving phone calls from scammers claiming that a judge forgot to order GPS monitoring for the released individual. The scammers are demanding money and threatening that the individuals will be taken back to jail.
BCSO states that judges will never forget to order GPS monitoring, and law enforcement will never call demanding money for paperwork errors…
