AUDIO: Kalamazoo County board declares lack of housing public health crisis

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County board has approved a resolution declaring the lack of adequate housing to be a public health crisis.

It passed, but it was not unanimous.

The resolution states that housing insecurity, substandard housing and homelessness are all threats to the health of low-income residents. It contributes to higher infant mortality rates, lower life spans and a wide array of mental and physical ailments…
