Many brands of shredded mozzarella, Italian blend, pizza, and Parmesan cheese have been recalled due to possible metal contamination. Looking at the list of brands, if you bought any of these types of cheese at nearly any store in Lubbock, it’s best if you check and ensure your brand/ best by/ lot numbers don’t match the recall. Texas is one of the states to receive shipments of the now-recalled cheese.

What’s Behind the Massive Cheese Recall?

According to KFDA, the recall of 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese is due to the possibility that they may contain metal fragments. Metal can be introduced into food in multiple ways, including equipment issues, packaging errors, etc. Beyond being inedible, metal in food can cause mouth and throat injuries and gastrointestinal distress.
