No car found after authorities investigate Johnstown pond for crash

DENVER (KDVR) — There was no vehicle found after authorities searched a retention pond northwest of Johnstown for a potential crash.

The Front Range Fire Rescue and the Johnstown Police Department were on scene near Weld County Road 13 and Weld County Road 54 for a potential crash investigation. This was at the Johnstown Ready Mix Plant at 25930 Weld County Road 13, in Weld County.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office said police, fire and EMS personnel responded after reports of a crash and a car in the retention pond. However, dive and drone teams found no vehicle during the search.

The fire rescue said Weld County Road 54 was closed between Weld County Road 15 and Weld County Road 13. Weld County Road 13 was also closed between Weld County Road 54 and Weld County Road 52.

It’s unclear what the authorities were searching for, although the retention pond is about 3 miles away from where a missing 20-year-old woman, Kaylee Russell, was last seen on Sunday near the intersection of Highway 402 and Interstate 25 near the Loveland/Johnstown Park-N-Ride.
