Beloved Riverton skate park closes immediately over safety concerns

RIVERTON, Utah (ABC4) — A well-loved skate park in Riverton is closing down after 20 years. On Tuesday night, the city council voted to close the park immediately.

Temporary fencing was installed around the park on Wednesday morning, and the city claimed this was to keep skaters safe. However, for many who use the skate park regularly, this change is hitting them hard.

The Riverton Skate Park is a place hundreds of skaters have called home for more than two decades, including George Bailly, who has been skating at the park for nearly seven years.
