No bail for Las Vegas ex-convict accused of killing girlfriend

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A judge denied an ex-convict bail following his arrest for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

Richard Watson, 41, appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Wednesday. He’s accused of shooting his girlfriend, identified as Christina Kelly, 29, at an apartment complex near Arville Street and Flamingo Road on Monday night.

Watson’s criminal history includes serving around five years in the Nevada Department of Corrections following an arrest for attempted murder in 2009. In a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.

He was also charged with DUI in 2023 and received a suspended sentence of 30 days. In September 2024, he was arrested for aggravated stalking, constituting domestic violence. The case was dismissed because the victim would not testify.
