Traffic stop in Albany escalates to felony assault charges

An Albany man was arrested on felony assault charges following a traffic stop in the City of Albany.

Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr., reported that on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at about 7:24 p.m., deputies stopped Abdullah S. Shakir near North Pearl Street and Livingston Avenue. Shakir, 28, allegedly resisted orders and became combative, leading to a deputy sustaining a forehead laceration.
