Erika Kirk’s baffling claim about Zohran Mamdani’s New York City mayoral win

Erika Kirk strangely proposed that women in New York may have supported Zohran Mamdani for mayor because they view the government as a “substitute” for a spouse.

The widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who now serves as CEO of his Turning Point USA organization, voiced apprehension during her appearance at The 2025 New York Times DealBook Summit that urban women are delaying marriage and family formation. Erika’s remarks followed a question from DealBook editor Andrew Ross Sorkin about her thoughts on Mamdani.

Sorkin observed that Mamdani successfully appealed to younger voters on the “complete opposite end” of Charlie Kirk’s contentious political beliefs. “You know it’s so interesting because I lived in Manhattan for a while and I loved this city.
