Hedingham mass shooting trial scheduled for February, motions filed by accused

Lawyers for accused Hedingham mass shooter Austin Thompson have asked that jurors be given a questionnaire before appearing in court that asks them, among other things, to state their race.

The trial for Thompson, who was 15 at the time police say he shot and killed five people in the east Raleigh neighborhood, is set to start in February.

His attorneys — Deonte Thomas and Kellie Mannette — filed three motions this week, one asking that jurors fill out a list of questions before they are interviewed for potential service, in part to save time…
