Gibson County deputy helps deliver baby in Denny’s parking lot

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A baby was delivered in a Denny’s parking lot on Thursday morning with the help of a Gibson County Sheriff’s deputy.

Couple Caleb Bare and Myranda McCoy were on their way to the hospital preparing for the arrival of their child. However, McCoy went into labor in the parking lot and Sheriff’s Deputy Levi Sims was there to assist.

According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Sims was on a routine patrol at the intersection of Interstate 64 and US 41 when a 911 call came in reporting that McCoy was in labor. Deputy Sims reportedly arrived within a minute of the fire and ambulance crews being dispatched, and ultimately he was able to deliver the girl and place her in her mother’s arms.

The baby was delivered successfully, and Ascension St. Vincent officials say she was named Juniper. The Sheriff’s Office say they received a commendation from McCoy later who said they were so grateful for Deputy Sims…
