Group brightens hospital stays with custom room designs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One organization is bringing holiday spirit to hospital patients away from home.

Once Upon a Room, a national nonprofit with a location in Grand Rapids, personalizes hospital rooms each month for patients experiencing extended stays. This month was a little extra special.

“There is too many people that have to spend the holidays or anytime at all and this is just one way that me and my team can be the good in the world and bring a little joy to sometimes a very difficult time,” Stephanie Trexler, local founder of Once Upon a Room, told News 8.
