Gainesville City Commissioners review updated plan for MLK Center, Citizen’s Field renovations

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Gainesville City Commissioners are taking another look at a plan to renovate the Waldo Road and Eighth Avenue corridor. But this time it’s a scaled-down plan.

The new plan would save around $31 million. It includes only renovating the Martin Luther King Junior Center and not building a new one. This plan also includes multi-purpose fields, a paved walking trail, a stadium parking lot, and a community and competition pool. However, this price is subject to change.

Right now, commissioners only have around $36 million for this plan, which includes grants, loans, and more…
