Former Athens High student indicted on terrorism, conspiracy and attempted murder charges

ATHENS, Ala (WHNT) — An Athens teenager is facing terrorism and attempted murder charges after court documents say he planned to harm students and staff at Athens High School.

According to court documents, Carson Butler, 18, was indicted last month for terrorism, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

The indictment, obtained by News 19, says that Butler conspired with several other people, largely identified by what appears to be online aliases, to kill students and staff at Athens High School. The indictment said that Butler also made an overt act to make that conspiracy happen…
