The city of Huntsville’s growth spurt will continue through the end of the year.
That’s because the City Council is expected to vote on annexing three properties totaling 724 acres at its meeting on Dec. 18.
The annexations will be introduced at Thursday’s meeting. Huntsville has annexed more than 2,287 acres in 2025. The city has annexed more acres this year than in any year since 2008, when the city saw a huge growth spurt of nearly 10,000 acres.
The largest annexation to be introduced is a 686.46 acre site north of Little Cove Road and east and west of U.S. 72 East. Huntsville Center, Inc. and Grassy Pond, L.P. are the petitioners for the annexation. John W. Hays is the president of both entities. Developer Jeff Enfinger is also an owner of the property…
