Man shot, killed by police while actively stabbing his father to death: LAPD

Police revealed new details in a grisly murder case after officers fatally shot a suspect who was actively stabbing his father to death in a Los Angeles residence on Wednesday.

It happened around 8:10 a.m. in the Lake Balboa neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley, according to the LAPD. West Valley Patrol Division officers responded to a call of a man diagnosed with what was only described as “mental illness,” acting erratically toward his father inside a home located in the 17200 block of Valerio Street.

Once at the scene, officers first met with the suspect’s brother, who said he came after his mother called in fear for their father’s safety. The brother also shared that the suspect had a history of violence toward their parents, including stabbing their father eight years earlier and assaulting their mother…
