S.F. social worker in critical condition after hospital stabbing

A social worker is in critical condition after getting stabbed several times, including in the neck and shoulder, Thursday afternoon at San Francisco General Hospital, Sheriff Paul Miyamoto said.

A sheriff’s deputy saw a 35-year-old man repeatedly stabbing the 31-year-old social worker around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Ward 86, the hospital’s HIV clinic, Miyamoto said at a news conference. The victim was taken to the operating room and was still receiving care Thursday evening. The man had reportedly made threats to a doctor before the incident.
