Woman charged in fatal South Loop shooting of mother last September: Chicago police

CHICAGO — A woman is charged in the fatal shooting of a mother in the South Loop this past September.

Quadajah Johnson, 31, of Des Plaines, faces one felony count of first-degree murder.

According to police, Johnson was arrested Wednesday in the 9200 block of West Senate Drive in Des Plaines after being identified as the offender who shot and killed 31-year-old Romeca Meeks-Blackmon.

The fatal shooting happened the morning of September 8 on the 2200 block of South State Street. Meeks-Blackmon had just dropped off her son at school near Cermak Road and State Street, when police said the victim was involved in a physical altercation with Johnson. The offender then took out a gun and fired it — striking Meeks-Blackmon in the face.

She was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Sources tell WGN News the women knew each other. Initially after the shooting, Johnson was arrested, but she was released without charges…
