Entergy files to extend time-in-service for Arkansas Nuclear One

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Entergy officials said on Thursday that they are planning on filing for license extensions for operating Arkansas Nuclear One.

Officials explained that ANO’s Unit 1 began operation in 1974, followed by Unit 2 coming online in 1980. Nuclear power plants are granted 40-year operational licenses with 20-year renewals, and with the planned renewal, the units will operate until 2054 and 2058, they said.

According to Entergy, both units currently provide nearly a quarter of all power produced in Arkansas.
