Man found guilty in 2023 Springfield murder

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Elysha Bedell was found guilty Thursday, Dec. 4, on eight counts in the 2023 fatal shooting of Chaviz Nguyen.

Those counts include first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and four counts of armed criminal action. The sentencing is set for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 5.

The verdict came after jurors heard closing arguments in the first of several trials stemming from Nguyen’s death.
