City of Albuquerque donates vehicle to Portales Animal Control

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department donated its decommissioned animal service vehicle to the City of Portales Animal Control in an effort to help support animal services in the community.

AWD said Kelly McClellan, community services director for City of Portales Animal Control, reached out to AWD for assistance, as their current vehicles are nearly 20 years old and no longer reliable. AWD then stepped up to help by donating its vehicle.

“Our goal is always to improve animal welfare, not just in Albuquerque but across New Mexico,” said Animal Welfare Department Director Carolyn Ortega in a news release. “By repurposing this vehicle, we’re helping Portales Animal Control continue their important work and making sure animals receive the care they deserve.”…
