ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A new Anchorage law will penalize private landowners who obstruct public rights-of-way near their property, such as trails, or park access points.
The ordinance, AO 2025-27, passed the Anchorage Assembly on Tuesday, and while there were several who spoke in support of it, a few landowners in Anchorage have their concerns.
“If you own any property anywhere near a state park, a municipal park, public land, for that matter, I would even go as far as to say a section-line even on your parcel,” said Landowner Brandy Pennington in an interview. “You are subject to the same ordinance that just is, like, put in place for the Stewart Trail.”…
