CANTON, Ohio — The mother of Zachary Fornash, the 24-year-old who was fatally shot by Canton officer Garrett Marino two years ago, has filed a federal lawsuit against Marino as well as the city and other members of the police department.
The lawsuit, filed by DiCello Levitt, seeks a jury trial and a judgment of at least $1 million. It also calls for the Canton Police Department to adopt “an appropriate policy to prevent future instances of the type of misconduct” alleged in the lawsuit.
