New court filing reveals Gendron messaged dozens before 5/14 attack

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Newly released federal court documents shed more light on the moments leading up to the May 14, 2022, Tops mass shooting, revealing that accused gunman Payton Gendron allegedly notified 65 people about the attack roughly 30 minutes before carrying it out.

According to the filing, Gendron messaged users on Discord, writing: “HAPPENING NOW THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
