Tesla driver in fatal San Ramon crash was going 150 mph, charged with murder

(KRON) — The driver of a Tesla Model 3 involved in a deadly crash in San Ramon last month was traveling at more than 150 mph prior to the crash, according to police. The fatal crash occurred on Saturday, Nov. 29 on Crow Canyon Road.

The driver of the Tesla, 27-year-old Badal Dholaria of Pleasanton, was also allegedly intoxicated when his vehicle struck the rear passenger side of a Ford Bronco. Dholaria’s Tesla, which was traveling on the westbound lane, was still moving at speeds in excess of 120 mph when it slammed into the Bronco.

The Bronco’s passenger, 41-year-old Alix Mari Sparks of Castro Valley, died at the scene. The Bronco’s driver, who has not been identified, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and released.

Dholaria was arrested and taken to the Martinez Detention Center. He is facing one count of second-degree murder and two counts of driving under the influence. According to the Contra Costa County District Attorney, he had a blood alcohol content of .08%…
