Hayward Residents Arrested in Highland Blvd Homicide Investigation

On July 19, 2025, Michael Flunoy, 42, of Hayward, called 911 to report that his girlfriend, Susana Vallejos, was experiencing a possible drug overdose at his home on Highland Blvd. Emergency responders found Vallejos, 46, of Lathrop, unresponsive and not breathing. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Flunoy and his roommate, David Lynn, were present and gave statements to police. Officers noted inconsistencies in their accounts.

Senior Homicide Detective Nick Niedenthal of the Hayward Police Department led the investigation. Police conducted interviews, executed search warrants, and collected evidence. An autopsy determined that Vallejos died from head trauma and manual strangulation. Toxicology reports found no illegal drugs in her system.

After consulting with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, police obtained arrest warrants. On November 24 and 25, 2025, Hayward Police arrested Flunoy and Lynn. Flunoy was charged with the murder of Vallejos. Lynn was charged as an accessory after the fact…
