ALEA reports seven traffic deaths during Thanksgiving enforcement period

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) concluded its Thanksgiving 2025 holiday enforcement period, which spanned from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, with a report of seven traffic fatalities. ALEA Troopers were actively patrolling Alabama roadways to ensure safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. The enforcement initiative aimed to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities, as well as deter dangerous driving behaviors.

ALEA Secretary of Law Enforcement Hal Taylor expressed condolences, stating, “Tragically, the loved ones of seven individuals will never forget this extended Thanksgiving weekend. We at ALEA offer our deepest sympathies to their families and friends.” Taylor emphasized the importance of ALEA’s work, noting the challenges Troopers face when notifying families after fatal crashes, especially during the holiday season.

The fatal crashes occurred in Chambers, Houston, Jefferson, Limestone, Lowndes, Sumter, and Talladega counties. Among the deceased were one pedestrian, two passengers, and four drivers.
