TENNESSEE — The National Weather Service has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories across parts of northern and central Tennessee, warning residents of slippery conditions due to snow and ice. The advisories are in effect from Thursday evening through Friday morning.
Residents in Putnam, Overton, Fentress, White, and Cumberland counties, including cities such as Allardt, Jamestown, Livingston, Cookeville, Sparta, and Crossville, should prepare for mixed precipitation, with total snow accumulations up to one inch and a light glaze of ice. These conditions could make bridges and overpasses particularly hazardous.
Similarly, Clay, Jackson, and Pickett counties, including Celina, Gainesboro, and Byrdstown, are also under advisory with the same expected conditions and potential travel hazards.
Parts of northern Tennessee near the Virginia border, including Scott, Campbell, Claiborne, Hancock, Hawkins, Sullivan, Morgan, Anderson, Unicoi, and Carter counties, are expected to see up to an inch of snow with a light glaze of ice. Cities in these areas include Clinton, Oak Ridge, Kingsport, Bristol, Erwin, Elizabethton, and Oneida.
