A Leesburg man who failed to pay traffic fines was arrested after an early morning trip through The Villages.
A deputy spotted 25-year-old Pedro Yabdiel Maldonado Rivera driving a silver Toyota sedan eastbound on State Road 44 near Brownwood at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle had only one working headlight, prompting a traffic stop near County Road 173.
A subsequent check of Maldonado Rivera’s driving history revealed he had two active sanctions on his license. He initially claimed to be unaware of this but later handed over court documents from the Lake County Clerk of Courts, the report said.
They indicated he had joined a payment plan, agreeing to pay $53 per month until his fines and penalties were satisfied. He signed the agreement, including a DHSMV acknowledgement saying his license would be suspended or revoked if he failed to make the payments, the report said…
