The Village of Indiantown has notified residents about a recent violation of drinking water standards. The water system exceeded the allowed levels for two substances: Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) and Haloacetic Acids (HAA5). The maximum allowed level for TTHM is 0.080 mg/L, and for HAA5 it is 0.060 mg/L. Recent tests showed HAA5 levels up to 0.159 mg/L and TTHM levels up to 0.244 mg/L at some locations. Quarterly averages for the third quarter were 0.182 and 0.181 mg/L for HAA5, and 0.209 and 0.204 mg/L for TTHM. The 12-month average was 0.210 mg/L for TTHM and 0.153 mg/L for HAA5. These results are above the regulatory limits.

The Village stated that this is not an emergency. Residents do not need to boil water or take immediate action. People with weakened immune systems, infants, pregnant women, and older adults should consult their doctors about drinking the water…
