$425K in fake designer goods seized at Rochester port of entry

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On December 4, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Rochester seized more than $425,000 in counterfeit designer products at the Rochester port of entry.

CBP officers searched multiple shipments that contained “designer” shoes, watches, jewelry, and handbags. Through an examination, they found all the items had counterfeit trademarks. CBP says that if all these products were authentic, they would be valued at almost half a million dollars.

One of the watches (pictured) would have been valued at $78,000 alone.

“During the holiday season, we often see an increase in counterfeit goods entering the country, as criminals attempt to exploit the high demand for popular brands,” said Rochester Acting Port Director Philip Young. “Our officers identify and intercept these items to protect American consumers and businesses. This seizure demonstrates the critical role CBP plays in safeguarding the economy and ensuring shoppers receive authentic, high-quality products.”…
