AMERICAN motorists are set to be hit with increased toll charges in a matter of weeks.

Furthermore, this imminent increase marks the start of four consecutive years of cost upticks for United States motorists using tolled roadways.

The toll rate is being increased at the start of the new year, going up by varying rates depending on the vehicle and the type of payment option used.

For two-axle vehicles, the rate increase varies by payment option. HOV tolls will increase rates by 25 cents from $4 to $4.25, while the FasTrak, license plate account, and invoice payment options all go from $8 to $8.50…
