A Newark teen has earned his Eagle Scout rank by building a K-9 agility and training course for the New Castle County Police K-9 Unit and K-9 Dog Camp Training.
With the help of nearly 40 volunteers, Devin Smith led the construction, installation and painting of 20 professional-grade K-9 obstacles. The course, located off Stanton-Christiana Road on property donated to the New Castle County Police by Artesian Water, is now being used for official police dog training and certification.
“This project was one of the best I’ve seen. It was about much more than constructing training equipment,” Scout Leader Jason Burns said. “It represents years of commitment, effort and resilience. With this achievement, Devin becomes part of a distinguished group known for their exceptional drive and dedication to serving the community.”…
