Hazelwood man convicted of Gravois Park home burglary

ST. LOUIS – Jurors convicted a Hazelwood man of breaking into an occupied home in the Gravois Park neighborhood.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department probable cause statement, the break-in happened on March 15 in 3600 block of Michigan Avenue.

Police and prosecutors said Fidel A. Melchor, 35, kicked in a basement door and remained inside the residence.

Officers arrived at the home and discovered Melchor attempting to unlock a screen door to leave the residence. Melchor was arrested at the scene. His backpack contained pliers, a wrench, vice grips, and other tools that could be used in a burglary…
