Doctor urge winter vaccinations as flu, COVID, RSV cases rise

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – State health leaders say now is the best time to get seasonal vaccinations as flu, COVID, and RSV emergency room visits are rising.

The New Mexico Department of Health says cases for flu, COVID, and RSV are going up among all age groups. A surge is also expected after New Year’s.

Presbyterian Hospital leaders predict a moderate winter respiratory virus season. They note it takes about two weeks for flu and COVID shots to be effective. With three weeks until Christmas, that means the window is closing soon to prepare for family gatherings…
