Dramatic videos show Las Vegas driver speeding, crashing into cars, killing 3, prosecutors say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — New videos show a driver intentionally speeding toward a red light at more than 100 mph and crashing into several stopped cars, causing the death of his pregnant girlfriend and two others, prosecutors said.

Jose Gutierrez, 19, is accused of intentionally accelerating toward a line of stopped cars at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Gutierrez’s girlfriend, Adilene Duran Rincon, 20, was killed in the crash, along with another driver, Edward Garcia, 38.

Vanessa Vasquez, 25, died from her injuries on Dec. 4, prosecutors said during a hearing to address Gutierrez’s bail on Thursday. A GoFundMe page for Vasquez said she was recently married.

Gutierrez faces two counts of open murder for the deaths of Duran Rincon, who was three months pregnant, and Garcia. It was not immediately clear if prosecutors would add a third count for Vasquez.

Gutierrez told police he suffers from seizures but was never treated, documents said. Police said if that were true, the vehicle would “have slowed or decreased speed” or drifted off the road, according to documents. Documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained after the crash showed Gutierrez was speeding at 71 mph “in a nearly straight line” toward the red light at the time of the first impact, police said.
